President-elect Donald Trump will honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during a planned meeting with Dr. King’s eldest son, Martin Luther King III.
Trump’s camp announced the planned meeting at Trump Tower on Monday, while most of the nation observes Martin Luther King Day. The PEOTUS also remembered Dr. King in a tweet on Monday.
“Celebrate Martin Luther King Day and all of the many wonderful things that he stood for. Honor him for being the great man that he was!” he tweeted.
Sean Spicer, Mr. Trump’s press secretary and communications director, confirmed the meeting with MLK’s son and other civil rights leaders after plans to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. were cancelled.
