A 16-year-old Nebraska girl was ordered to delete her Facebook page as part of her punishment for killing her newborn baby after giving birth last year.
Antonia Lopez was spared a 20-year prison sentence after agreeing to a plea deal for throwing her newborn infant out of a 2-story window.
Lopez was arrested on Sept. 30, 2016 in connection with the brutal homicide. She threw the newborn out of a 2 story window and ran to tell her mother what she had done. She told her mother she panicked after giving birth and she believed the baby was stillborn, according to the Omaha World Herald.
But Douglas County Juvenile Court Judge Christopher Kelly took pity on the teenager and ordered her to delete her Facebook page, perform 50 hours of community service, and attend therapy sessions at a group home.
The therapy at the group home is intended to teach her the consequences of her crime, since Lopez did not show any remorse for killing her baby.
Lopez is currently in jail until the court can find an appropriate group home with a mental health staff.
