R&B crooner Usher has a message for women who don’t need hair weave or extensions to validate them. If this isn’t you, another post will be along shortly.
The 38-year-old Dallas native spoke directly to natural women (like you and me) who no longer straighten our nappy hair with relaxers and other harsh chemicals.
Usher said:
“I like my natural hair… I like your natural hair, baby. Grow it. Females: I appreciate your natural hair. Let me see it. That’s what I’m f-ckin’ wit.”
Why thank you, Usher!
[Looking around the room for other naturalistas] *crickets* Tumbleweed blows by…
Thanks boo been loc’d and loving it for 7 1/2 years. Get it Ursh!
Usher looks like he eats pussy well, or sucks rack and eats azz well
He wasn’t saying that when he was with chilly or temek or mama grace
Well Usher….thank you for letting us know your preference. You forgot to mention you like em round ya momma age too tho didnt you.
Dude has always looked like a treasure troll to me.
Triple Threat
What about your wife.. are you still f*ckin with her or nah???
Lightweight
Dont…lmao
Hahahaha
This is what I’m talking about.
Yep, all of them had that straight silky sheen, light wavy not common amongst sistas.
righhhhht
Which one is he best at???
They just got back from a romantic vacation in the islands.
My momma so crazy. She said this message was just for her. She’s 70 and just did a big chop. Lol.
*chest laugh*
Looks like he just rolled out of bed and made this video…the only woman who should care about his preference is his wife ?
My boy Usher been eating good, it seems.
Thats that dinner after sex weight.
Is he ok? Vegan?
Thank you Usher!!! I went to get my son some hair moisturizer in a beauty supply store (my first time going to one) and was disgusted at all the products (and wigs) specifically made for Black women to look more European (not going to even get on the fact Asians owned this place Candler rooad). You’ll have been hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray…..You’re beautiful as you naturally are…..stop emulating white woman. Sisters be you. You’re beautiful the way God made you!!
I’m right here only chemical I use is hair color, looking to find color that isn’t so harsh
Well, alright. *fist bump*
but that’s chilli and grace real hair . it just grows like that…no..mk
NEWSFLASH!!!! All black women don’t have kinky hair. Why is it when our hair is naturally straight we are being like white women as if that is a good thing and kinky hair is a bad thing. Black women have the most diverse hair in the world. No race can style their hair in as many ways than black hair and that is a good thing. I have a daughter whose hair doesn’t kink at all even when wet. Stop with the black hair stereotype. Now if we had lice in our hair that is being like white women. I would have paid 1 million bucks to see Farah Fawcett get the kinks outs her tossed hair on that poster.
Do as I say not as I do smh a social media video is cool but it would have been nice if you included them in your music videos for the last 20 years. But i totally agree and at least he said it in a positive way. He didn’t have to put anybody else down to lift them up. Salute brother.
Ain’t he married???? Why do I care what he thinks? Or did he say he likes his wife’s hair natural? I ain’t click the video
??????
Kinky hair can be nice
Tutorial of white girl getting knots outta her tangled hair since some black people are caught up in the illusion that white people hair is just smooth all the time where they can run their hands through it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6rTMIXg2xc
Heyyyyyyyyyyy he said nothing about sex. He can appreciate an older woman no more than older men appreciate a younger woman.
Kinky COMBED hair is nicer.
Gracie is a natural hair advocate but Usher is referring to natural hair like his biracial wife’s straight textured curly hair.
His breath looks like it was a little hot in this video…….
Right here?. I’ve been natural for years. So is my daughter. I can’t even remember why I used chemicals. Confession….I’m a product junkie?
Way too much preoccupation with Black Women and their hair! Natural hairstyles are growing in big numbers, and generating billions for hair care product companies, as are weaved hair sales. It doesn’t make you less woman or black, if you use chemicals, wear weaves or wigs, lashes and full face beat makeup!
No more than men taking their little blue pill, (chemicals) and the long-term effects, or hair transplants, or human growth hormones to look youthful and build super bodies, OK!
Let’s spread and exhibit having character: Integrity, Honesty, Courage ( which it takes to do the right thing), Kindess, Generosity, Mutual Respect, and Empathy! Hair is an accessory, how you style it doesn’t reveal your blackness, heart or true intentions!
Thank goodness black men are validating how beautiful natural kinky hair is on black women, because some of us need to hear it. I’m still not strong enough to proudly wear my natural hair in public, until it gets to a longer length.
Thank you! We need to hear this message because many of us before we were 10 years old, were given perms because our hair wasn’t naturally straight. It damages our perception of self until we hear another message of self acceptance.
I never hear white men tell their women how to wear their hair, but black men always got something to say about our hair, clothes, makeup, how to raise kids, etc. Your one job Usher is to entertain me, that’s it, point blank!
That’s that Neanderthal fur, not hair.
Now all of a sudden black men want us to start wearing our real hair. But y’all constantly chase light skin, long hair. Or Latina, or white. Now it’s ok for us to be natural. Get out of here with that fake shish!!
Usher…. please don’t ever hold the camera that close to your face again. That’s what I’m not f-ckn’ wit
Hey ? …good to see ur font ?
Preach!!!!
I was always self conscious about my hair when I went natural. I’m comfortable with my hair now because I always tell myself… no matter what, no one with a head full of weave or hair similar to mines can clown me for it.
Wish I could do a sniff and smell so those close minded
black folks about white hair can see that white hair smells like a horse when wet.
most will say they wear Indian hair and not European hair.
LOL PLS GET THIS MAN SOME SLEEP AND SEND HIM THE ADDRESS OF THE NEAREST AA MEETING BC HE LOOKS TIRED AND LIKE A WINE-O……..JENNY JONES!!!
PLS SEND THAT MEMO TO BEY-0TCH A** TYRESE TOO………JENNY JONES!!!
It’s all talk.
why he so far in the camera though? forehead pressed against the glass and chit..
i think you have self hate issues that make you see that.
Usher so irritating I’m still mad at him for making that no limit song lmao ?
Well, there it is!!
i would go back to natural…but these edges…the texture of my edges are NOT IT!
Its nice to know he loves a woman the way that they are… I take his comments as being positive for womens self esteem. I can respect him and his opinion because he seems to really be about that life and appreciates black women because, he has dated a wide variety of beautiful women from his culture in and out the spotlight . He is not just yapping off at the mouth like other R&B singers that have a type that is anything but a black woman.
With that being said women should wear whatever makes them comfortable nobody cares about your hair style unless you are out there looking crazy everything is not for everybody. Luckily black women have a million hair styles so nobody should be out here looking cray regardless of how they are wearing their hair.
Usher I dont think that was his intention but everything you said is true also… I think black women are starting to realize they are being overly criticized and ridiculed and it’s a double standard.
You probably will not… I have heard them when they try to fit in with black men say some left things about hair but they are repeating blacks. They follow the blacks lead thats why negative images of blacks on television is bad. If they have a black male friend that is extremely negative about black women they will repeat the things they have heard or ask you about it if they are comfortable around you.
QTNA. 1. Where are the people? In the history of never have we been stuck on one post and not had a million comments. 2. Sandra you in court again? We only got one post yesterday.
Last time I checked his ex-wife wore weaves and the only other two he has claimed have that non kinky hair. Tell Usher to go sit down and dance somewhere…..
@realsandrarose:disqus Where everybody at???
I agree. If they love natural so much, Why don’t they date natural.
good morning,
I think folks quit / Sandra blocked servers?
the latest post I can see from my cell is Heiress. At work I can see everything on internet explorer, but on chrome, its the same as my cell…
xoxoxo
hey doll, kisses
um…. yeah, super weird I think folks quit / Sandra blocked servers?
Men need to start schooling other MEN! You’re always telling us about hair, attitudes, etc. Why not speak to your brothers about how they defile and degrade us on a regular basis. Yall are dead wrong for that and it needs to stop but no one is talking about.
Oh yes!.. Truth!
Who said that was our illusion? You?
Hey honey!!! Funny all I could see yesterday was Heiress. Today all the post from yesterday popped up.
I can appreciate natural hair, relaxed hair too. But what I can not appreciate is a lack of effort! A HUGE number of these women claiming “natural” wear the same “mushroom ” on the back of their head everyday. You know, where they take that little band, slide it over their head and push the hair backwards leaving what is supposed to be a puff. And when asked about it they say: “I’m natural. I can’t do anything with it”. That is LAZY! All hair can be styled, all textures can be presentable. What I am truly tired of is wigs and weave (unnecessary ones). It’s cool to do it up extra for special occasions, but everyday, NO. and pulling it back like it’s yours in a semi-ratty ponytail, NO. Black women’s hair has so many textures and can be worn as what it is, a crown of beauty, with a little effort.
That should be his main concern…not what other women are doing with themselves.
I’m light skin and have “beat you back hair ” as my grandmother would call it kinky. It is what is, only long when flat ironed. I’m tired of the anti light skin movement by other Black women ; we are still Black, the anger and hostility towards us is past ignorant to say the least.
How is light skin “not natural?”
I read in her post that she blocked ppl
Right! I only saw Heiress yesterday and then Usher at the end of the workday, now I can see bout 50 posts that were from yesterday….weird
Now I can only see yesterday from my phone. Went to my browser and I see 3 from today.
???
????????????
Seems to be an issue with the site and chrome
Was referring to them not dating women with natural hair.
Ok, thank you for clarifying.
Hello Mr. Raymond????????
Looks like a Lazy white person who did not comb their hair for weeks… They use to have tons of those types in Venice and Long Beach….
Man I need a new post. I’m tired of logging in to see his scary looking mug staring back at me. I feel like I’m looking at a crackhead looking through my window. Yikes ?
I do respect Ush for choosing relationships with black women as opposed to blaming hair weave for not wanting a woman of color, like that ignorant hack Tyrese did.
From what’s been said, Usher might be getting a divorce from his grandma.
Usher’s wife is old as hell by the way.
They are several new post. For some reason they are only showing up from
Computer and not on phones.
There are new post….not able thru Chrome
True
???
??
Why don’t he fux with his wife?? This man was married to the queen of weave and his current, elderly wife is biracial…outta here with that bs
Well I’m in Sandra Rose Rehab for Roses. If she did block servers etc – praise God – this will help me with my long recovery! Unfortunately I’m over this blog, sad but true.
What is with the [recent] copious verbal and written negative opinions addressing black women lately? It is often noted that an argument steeped in negative connotations goes unregarded as anything of substance.
If a black woman chooses to style their hair in different fashions then when does that topple the other valid arguments effecting the black culture?
“Grow it”? What a presumptuous and ignorant but telling remark on the “standards” Usher uses to gauge women with.
In my opinion, they aren’t truly satisfied with whom they are with so they feel the need to speak to us.
my server must be blocked because all i see is the tiny post for the past two days when i login via chrome and firefox. wassup with that. it was like that on my cell for quite sometime
Yes, I bet there is alot of [their] poor self-talk ironically deflected at the same group of women that helped to birth these very faux experts.
Yes, we need to love and celebrate every bit of our natural selves. And! folks need to stop putting pressure on us to be otherwise. But why does that screenshot of Usher make him look like he smoke Newports and drank King Cobra?
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e354a1589df86f2fc8f3ab6f3ff247d7fba14780e110a17335c75a774e793bc8.gif
its just awkward
Im sorry im not walking around with a fvckin afro its not the look that i prefer…however i haven’t had a relaxer since 2004. So when i do wear my hair without weave I always have to wear it in a puff ball or a bun ?
Naturalista 20 years strong here. With that being said I can understand black women wanting to “change it up” from time to time, but why do it in styles that dont match our ethnicity? It screams conformity in the worst way when we wear styles that we otherwise would have never been born with.
Lol Exactly! I came here expecting to see my fine black brotha, but instead it’s somebody ol rusty drunk uncle
Ladies, love your hair whether its straight, fake, natural, or curly. Just make sure you take care of it.
I hate black men like that. They stereotype black women as if there aren’t any worse negative stereotypes of black men everywhere. But they expect everyone to take them as individuals and not judge them off sh!t other black men do or minimize other BM bs. Smh.
I’ve tried natural hair and it is unbecoming of me. Why are men so preoccupied with our hair?
It’s not bashing it’s simply the truth. Light skin black girls are the “acceptable” kind of black.
Yes we are all black but colorism is real.
That’s the problem!
I always wanted to get a perm buy my father was like, you don’t need a perm; you have the rest of your life to burn your hair out! My sisters and I had to learn to deal with our natural hair and I am thankful because that I never became a slave to weaves or chemicals. That being said, if I want a straight blonde weave I will damn sure get one. It only means that it is a change and I like the way I look – nothing more.
Now why she gotta be old?? LOLLOLLOL!!! She’s only about 40…
The beautiful thing about our hair is that it comes in all textures and all shades – black, brown, grey, white, blonde, red… straight, wavy, kinky, coily etc. Hair is our crowning glory and nobody manipulates their hair the way that we do. I’m all for wearing whateva makes you feels good. I don’t want to be limited to an afro or hair in it’s natural state to prove that I love myself. Hell, if I get a hold of some good bone-straight hair and somebody that can attach it to my head professionally, I’m going for it!!!
He wasn’t telling anybody how to wear their hair or say anything negative about anybody. It was just a positive shout out to natural hair. That’s It. Nothing more nothing less. In a world where you can’t even where natural styles in certain places of work ,it’s nice to hear something positive for a change. At least to me it is.
This dude told me his wife wears alot of weave like he was saying my wife drinks alot, lol. He was looking at my natural hair like it was magic. I guess it is a big thing to men.
She looks older than that. Ursher likes cougars….
Ima have to find a recent picture of her…
Ok I think you get what I’m saying because I think people are thinking I’m bashing women! That is the opposite, I’m saying we ” black women have been told we are unacceptable. And yes “light” skin have been very accepted! It’s the ugly truth!
Usher is my dude. Love this guy. He is super talented.
Henna?
I’m newly loc’d!
When did “Bonita Applebum” come out? That song was about her so assuming she was legal she’s closer to 50. Takes care of herself though.
Well said. I love that we have so much versatility with our hair. That and our various skin tones are what makes us so beautiful.
Girl stop. I’m cocoa brown and have always felt “acceptable black”…whatever that means. You gotta truly love and accept yourself then other folks’ insecurities will fade to black.
Thank you Usher. I feel the most comfortable wearing my hair natural. It’s refreshing to hear a black man say our hair in its natural texture is beautiful.
I came across dozens of you tube videos toda of white men saying how they love to date black women and the reasons why. I shared it with my co -worker and we laughed together. It was funny and very enlightening.
Whuut?!? I didn’t know she was close to fifty! She looks good!
That’s the first thing I thought about, how many, many black men want the same aesthetic they’re criticizing, or where is the chastising for white or Asian women who subject themselves to all kinds of bad science to replicate very common, black women’s features or attributes.
Not to mention, along with plastic body parts, sun damaged skin, bad lip injections, bleached bottled hair, they also wear weaves for days, whether, clipped, sewn, or glued to achieve a look they don’t have, like the Pantene models or spokespersons! Khloe will never run out of suitors, where is the black men outcry to get her stable on successful black men to get themselves a real, natural white woman?
I didn’t see the videos, but I agree, they better accept us as we are, and realize how diverse we comes, weaves or Afros, natural or relaxed, light or dark hues! I know plenty of black women that date or have married white men, most don’t put down black men or black women, and I’ve seen some cry me a river, jet set, fuss and fight, or have very supported relationships! Black people need to stop racial profiling! And, most black women do prefer black men, but many are extending their borders and boundaries out of choice!
See, it’s the applauded stereotypes, when we come so diverse (beauty, hair types, educational levels, stations in life, and as entreneurs), most imitated, highly successful, even hood rats drive a car, got a nice crib, and her a hustle, not many ( black men) are going to do it for or with her!
You stop. I’m neither dark skin or light skin. But I know other black girls out there get called roaches. I’ve heard all kinds of mean of dark skin “jokes” towards my friends. Yes they love themselves but it’s still very hurtful. It’s funny how as black people, we want everyone to acknowledge racism and work towards putting an end to to it, but we want to deny colorism.
The good men need to start speaking and guiding the bad and ignorant men, The good women need to start speaking to and guiding the bad or ignorant women. Weave after so many weeks stink, most who wear it dont blend it well, and most of the time it just look wiggy and fake. You cant tell me wearing wiggy hair look better than getting your real hair done. Now if u suffer from alopecia different story.
Hmmmm
All of what you said is true but the o my thing I could think of that would sum all of this up is SELF HATE. I think it’s deeper than what it seems.
You’re exactly right, it is what it is!
I had a mentor to tell me, “heck no, they don’t want little babies
looking like them, they want little yellow babies running around.” She was a head hunter top tier Ivy League type executives, predominately, black men. I never forgot it, and always commend those men who seem not to be bothered!
Until I see one of them doing natural hair videos. No weave, perm, wigs etc… Movies, wife, have kids with etc….
Don’t want to hear them speak
Talk is very cheap in this industry
There are a few good black men out there.
Weave AND wigs stink. #fixed
Keep your stinky weave sweety, I doubt that’s what he meant by the statement, and I doubt he will be checking for you either way.
Or go get a wash n press from the Dominicans for $30.
