Rap mogul Tip “T.I.” Harris responded in typical T.I. fashion when his followers disrespected his Tupac Shakur tribute on Instagram.com.
Lesane Parish Crooks, aka Tupac Shakur, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Friday, April 7.
T.I., 36, was among a handful of celebs paying homage to the late rap icon who was shot to death in 1996 at age 25.
The rapper wore a black leather suspender vest similar to the one worn by Tupac in the mid 1990s.
T.I.’s fans (and haters) immediately took to Instagram and Twitter.com to clown his taste in fashion.
T.I. took offense to his followers referring to his custom leather corset as a “waist trainer” or a “girdle” in the comments on his Instagram.com page.
“Guess you just had to be there…. Y’all young, forever commentating, over-opinionated muuuufuckaz got shit to say ALWAYS!!!” T.I. clapped back.
Of course, his response brought a new wave of insults and abuse from the wannabe gang bangers and hoodrats on social media.
The modern Internet was still in its infancy when Tupac wore his leather Moschino corset on the cover of the New York Times Sunday magazine in 1996. Suffice it to say 2Pac got his share of heavy criticism from street thugs and D-boys who weren’t as fashion forward as he was.
T.I., a budding social justice activist who doesn’t handle criticism very well, should have known better than to try and revive an unforgivable piece of hip hop fashion history.
