Maia Campbell

Troubled former actress Maia Campbell declined rapper/actor LL Cool J‘s offer to help her after a man posted a video of her on social media over the weekend.

The man who uploaded the video said the 40-year-old was strung out on drugs and begging for money in exchange for sex.

“If anyone has a contact on Maia pls (sic) let me know…” LL wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. He also tweeted: “@MaiaCampbell Please DM (direct message) me when/if you see this.”

Campbell starred in LL’s ’90s sitcom In The House. She was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder as a young adult. Her late mother, author Bebe Moore Campbell, wrote about Campbell’s struggles with mental illness in a book.

In a grainy video uploaded to social media on Tuesday, Campbell is seen pacing the floor at a hair salon in an Atlanta suburb.

“Hey, Todd. Look bro, I love you, but, I don’t need help, I just need a benefit concert for mental health,” she said in the video.

“Don’t DM me, it’s really me… I’m in the shop that I pimp at, or whatever,” she said.

As she spoke, the former actress held her hand over her mouth to conceal a missing tooth.

“I’m doing good, my show is called ‘From the Bottom Up,” she said, referring to her appearance on Centric’s reality TV show last November.

“Don’t call me, I’ll call you,” she said, as the cameraman asked her how LL could contact her.

“Pray to God that I don’t start rapping,” she added.

According to WENN.com, she then insisted the actor already had her mother’s phone number.

It’s not known if LL managed to speak to Campbell or her mom directly, but the NCIS: Los Angeles actor has since returned to Twitter and suggested his efforts went ignored.

“You can’t help someone who doesn’t want your help,” he tweeted late on Monday.
