2. The Hero, Robert Engle
Robert Engle, a 22-year-old church usher, could have spent Sunday hanging out with his friends. Instead, he was in church risking his life to prevent a mass murder.
When Samson entered the church and began shooting randomly at the elderly members, Engle rushed forward and confronted the shooter.
Engle was unarmed and — at 6-foot-5 — he was still no match for the muscular body builder who savagely pistol-whipped him. During the struggle, Samson was shot in the left chest with his own gun.
Bleeding profusely from his head wounds, Engle staggered to his car to retrieve his own weapon to ensure “the gunman didn’t make any more movements until police arrived.”
Engle was hailed a hero by the police chief and the community. Now the little church will be so packed with appreciative young ladies next Sunday, that Engle won’t be able to take a step in any direction without bumping into one.
