A Florida teenager was arrested and charged with raping a neighbor at knifepoint. According to the New York Daily News, a woman told police she was awakened Friday by a masked man standing next to her bed.
Timothy Walding, 18, placed his hand over the woman’s mouth and held a knife to her throat, telling her not to scream.
The mother-of-2 said she spoke to the suspect while he tied both of her hands together. After the sexual assault, the woman said she again spoke to the man and there was “a lot of dialogue” between them.
Fearing for her life, she won Walding’s trust by telling him she didn’t know him.
Walding told her he “could not imagine leaving two kids without a mother because his mother passed away” when he was 12.
The teenager later removed the mask and revealed his identity to her, according to police.
The woman asked him how he got into her house, and he replied, “you really should deadbolt your door because I didn’t really want to do this, but I had to do it,” according to the affadavit.
He apologized for assaulting her and asked her to let him “make this up to her” by doing some yard work or by fixing things around the house. But she said “no.”
He also said he would go to serve in the military so “it would not be awkward” living next door to each other.
Walding is being held in jail on three counts of sexual assault.
