Barack Obama has recorded a message telling Alabama voters to get out and vote for senate candidate Doug Jones in Alabama’s special election on Tuesday. According to Fox News, Jones is a 10-point favorite over Roy Moore to win AG Jeff Sessions’ vacated senate seat.
President Donald Trump also recorded a message urging voters to elect Moore in the majority Republican red state.
Former President Obama recorded his message over the past few days according to two Democratic officials.
“Doug Jones is a fighter for equality, for progress,” he says in the taped call, according to CNN.
Obama added: “Doug will be our champion for justice. So get out and vote, Alabama.”
He also urged voters not to “sit it out.”
The last time Obama campaigned for a candidate was Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
Clinton was a 98% favorite to win on election day last year.
