Jemele Hill

Jemele Hill is denying reports that she was demoted from SportsCenter and downgraded to blogging for ESPN’s the Undefeated.

In a lengthy statement on Twitter.com, the outspoken former sports anchor claimed she is leaving SportsCenter because she asked to be a blogger.

“I have a few things to say,” Hill tweeted on Saturday.

“While I am amused by the rumors that I was demoted, kicked off the 6pm SportsCenter or whatever else can be conjured, the truth is pretty simple and not nearly as dramatic,” Hill said.

She added that her background as a columnist for ESPN 11 years ago made her a better fit for blogging.

“While I have grown in every way imaginable this last year on the 6 p.m. SportsCenter, deep down I knew it wasn’t my calling,” she said.

What she meant was, deep down she knew that her bosses weren’t going to allow her to continue using SportsCenter’s platform to express her left-wing political opinions.

In September, Hill called President Donald Trump “a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists.”

She was suspended from SportsCenter for 2 weeks in October for tweeting about the NFL protests.

Hill, who was paid $1 million as a sports anchor, will earn her last paycheck from SportsCenter on Friday, Feb. 2.

Unfortunately for Hill, there are no million-dollar sports bloggers.
