Rejoice, ladies. If you are tired of seeing the name NBA YoungBoy on every blog, there is good news! A Georgia judge has ordered the 18-year-old rapper held without bail for assaulting his girlfriend, Jania.
Most of us have no clue who this guy is, but his name keeps popping up across news feeds as if he’s famous. Now we know why: he appears to be another rapper with a violent criminal past — the type the news media loves to promote.
YoungBoy was arrested in Tallahassee on Saturday on a kidnapping and assault warrant.
Jania claims they were “playing” when YoungBoy was caught on hotel surveillance video dragging her by her hair weave and slamming her forcefully on the floor in a hallway.
A hotel employee called the police after hearing the young girl’s screams. YoungBoy and Jania fled the room by the time police arrived. But cops found evidence (blood) in the room to counter Jania’s claims that they were just horsing around.
A source tells TMZ that Tallahassee cops stopped YoungBoy’s tour bus and ran a criminal background check on everyone on the bus. The cops determined that YoungBoy had a warrant and he was cuffed.
The rapper, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, was extradited back to Ware County, Ga., where a judge ordered him held until his trial. He faces felony kidnapping and aggravated assault charges in connection with an assault on his girlfriend.
The acronym NBA means Never Broke Again, and it seems the NBA has sent a cease and desist to his camp ordering him to drop NBA from his stage name.
