Oversexed men can no longer turn to Craigslist.com to hook up with sex workers. Craigslist shut down the personals section 2 days after the Senate approved the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act.
The legislation, which is contained in the massive 2,200 page, $1.3 trillion Senate spending bill, allows victims of sex trafficking to sue websites that advertise and promote sex services.
The sex trafficking bill would have protected singer Bobby V who was mocked ruthlessly after a video showed him skipping out without paying a male prostitute he found on Craigslist last year.
President Donald Trump reluctantly signed the massive spending bill on Friday, March 23, without reading the 2,200 pages.
Trump claimed he was “forced” to sign the spending bill, and that he would not sign a similar bill in the future.
The spending bill, which was heavily criticized by GOP lawmakers, also contains millions of dollars for border security — in Africa and the Middle East, thanks to Democrats.
One lawmaker who did read the bill — Senator Rand Paul — stayed up half the night criticizing it on Twitter.com.
Well here it is, all 2,232 budget-busting pages. The House already started votes on it. The Senate is expected to soon. No one has read it. Congress is broken… pic.twitter.com/izvJlUEgUM
