Cardi B

Rapper Cardi B’s former manager is suing her for $10 million after she signed with the Migos’ Atlanta based management team. Cardi’s former manager, Klenord Raphael, aka “Shaft”, is suing her for defamation and breach of contract.

In court documents obtained by The Blast, Shaft and his KSR Group and Worldstar Management companies filed suit against Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, after she signed a deal with Quality Control management last month.

Shaft, who began managing the “Bodak Yellow” rapper in 2015 claims he “catapulted her from exotic dancer and social media presence to music icon” and “conceived, arranged and orchestrated Cardi B’s rise to become the biggest music sensation on the planet.”

He is asking for $10 million in lost compensation and damages.

The suit alleges Cardi began making moves with Quality Control Management in 2017 after Cardi B’s stylist allegedly told her that Shaft was “robbing” her by making side deals at her expense.

“She has… repeatedly defamed Shaft, falsely communicating to her fiancé Kiara Kendrell Cephus (Offset), members of her entourage, and the public that ‘Shaft is robbing me,'” the lawsuit states. Shaft also blames Cardi’s fiancé Offset, who “is responsible for steering Cardi B to QC to be managed in all of her entertainment endeavors.”

According to the court documents, Offset allegedly reached out to Shaft to defend his boo, saying: “(U) better stop play acting like u don’t know u taking her (expletive) from her u a snake. U can’t hide from me (N word) and u not bout to play my WIFE.”

Even if the 25-year-old Bronx native doesn’t have $10 million, she will be paying for the rest of her life if she loses the case.
