Kanye West revealed he scrapped his finished album, YE, and wrote new songs after he inadvertently said “slavery is a choice” during an interview with TMZ last month.
In an appearance on Big Boy’s Neighborhood at 92.3 radio station, Kanye, 40, said he scrapped his original 7-track album and was forced to rewrite the tracks following the “slavery” comment which was taken out of context.
“I completely re-did the album after TMZ. We just sat there and really honed in on the words because now it’s all headlines… I took a bar off the album. It was just too sensitive. It was about that [slavery] topic. And I just let go. You know, I feel like, as a son, and as a family member of the world, that’s the reason why the world won’t let me go because I’m just a family member. They might disagree with me, but I’m family.”
During a Q&A at a listening party for his YE album in Wyoming on Thursday, Kanye said Kim urged him not to go to TMZ, and not to express his support for Trump.
“My wife told me not to go to TMZ,” said Kanye who added, “Yes, also that too” when asked if Kim told him not to support Trump.
Kanye addressed his conversation with Kim on his track “Wouldn’t Leave”, “Wife calling, screaming, saying we’re about to lose it all/ I had to calm her down ‘cause she couldn’t breathe/I told her she could leave me now but she wouldn’t leave.”.
Kim actually went to Washington, D.C. to meet with Trump to discuss prison reform last week.
