Russell Simmons has begun unloading his multi-million dollar property portfolio that he doesn’t want to lose in potential lawsuits after a plethora of women accused him of sexual misconduct.
The 60-year-old music mogul listed the peaceful 6,085 sq. ft. Spanish style mansion in the Hollywood Hills for $8.25 million in July. The home quickly sold a month later for $8.15 million, according to published reports.
Simmons purchased the 5-bedroom, 6.5 bath manse five years ago for $5,877,500. The house features a 1500-bottle capacity wine cellar, a cigar room, and an outdoor kitchen that seats 8 near the Olympic sized swimming pool.
The once powerful movie and publishing magnate ran afoul of the #MeToo movement after multiple women came forward to accuse him of sexual assault.
Within weeks of the allegations, Simmons stepped down as CEO of his various companies and foundations.
Simmons vigorously denied the allegations before fleeing the country on board his private jet. He has been hiding out in Bali, where he claims to be “spiritually learning” and cleansing his mind of unsure thoughts.
One of the reasons Bali is currently home to Simmons is it does not have an extradition treaty with the United States.
In between Yoga sessions, Simmons is busy listing more million-dollar properties.
Also in July he listed his impressive 7,200 square-foot Duplex penthouse in downtown New York City for $9.925 million. The penthouse which he has owned for over a decade boasts four bedrooms, 4 baths plus a staff bedroom and bath, two kitchens and a screening room off the massive 1,100 sq. ft. living room.
Simmons has a few more properties to unload before he can relax his mind when the lawsuits begin flying.
