Socialite Blac Chyna sparked outrage on social media by promoting her own brand of skin lightening cream for sale in Nigeria.
The 30-year-old former stripper posted a flyer on her Instagram page promoting her appearance to sell her bleaching cream at a shopping mall in Lagos, Nigeria.
“Lagos Nigeria, join me at the first official launch of my face cream this Sunday November 25th at the Whitenicious store from 1-5PM. Everyone is invited. @whitenicious”
Chyna was aware of the fury her post would unleash, so she closed the comments on her post. But angry IG followers expressed their rage in other posts on her page.
Many accused the reality TV star of misleading Nigerians by implying she bleached her skin when she is, in fact, mixed race.
Below are just a handful of the posts from IG users who accuse Chyna of selling out her own people to make a fast buck.
“You are indeed odious! Have you no regard for your colour? Selling out your heritage and encouraging silly, insecure people to devalue themselves is so offensive – on so many levels: she should be ashamed!”
“I can’t believe you are going to Nigeria to promote a skin whitening cream this is so disgusting !! What are you trying to say !! WOW ! I always supported your hustle but this is low even for you !”
“You’ve been cancelled, but now, you’re just a joke. Bye white Chyna.”
“Nothing you do will save your career…or lack there of.”
“You are so disgusting for even making a product like that.”
Skin bleaching creams are all the rage in countries like the United States, Nigeria and Jamaica which have large populations of dark-skinned Black people.
