Angela Simmons

Rev. Run's daughter Angela Simmons is the latest celebrity to join Team Natural! Angela, who is known to spend a house note on hair extensions every month, debuted her natural hair on her Instagram page on Thursday.

Angela showed off a healthy head full of curls in a video uploaded to her page.

She captioned the video: "Natural hair out brought to you by @curls .. lol what do you guys think ? Playing with different hairstyles with my natural hair .. attempted to style my own hair .. lol."

Many women of color forego styling their own hair because, A. they don't know how to maintain their own hair, or B. they're lazy.

Angela falls in category A. She expressed a willingness to learn how to maintain her healthy tresses by investing in a line of organic natural hair products.

Ladies, post pictures of your natural hair in the comments!

  • SpiceGirl

Well all right...that's all have on this.....

  • Sushi

    Welcome to team natural. ..

  • Skin Deep Beauty

Naturally curly me arse! Even folk with REAL NATURALLY CURLY HAIR don't have coily curls like that... Then I guess she low key tryna advertise that green mess. Bye.

  • Soda

Natural or fake, we spend entirely too much time and money on our hair.

  • Yoni7

  • jeniefrumdabloc™ Just glad to see she ain't dancing ...... all I got for this thirsty one

  • Joy King

That looks like a rod set to me but glad Angela’s happy with her natural hair.

  • ohdearme

For the life of me I don't understand the wig/weave craze, that sh!t would drive me crazy! At any rate I'm OUT!

Merry Christmas to all that celebrate and Happy Holidays to those that don't! I hope Santa is good to you. lol

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

    U ain’t cutting no slack is u

  • Mielle Downey

    looks nice and i like

  • SpiceGirl

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

This one be thristy as fawk ..... You know give it to ya straight no chaser .......

  • JayBird

That's a rod set. It's cute, but its not naturally curly. Her natural curls would be mor like an afro.

  • Thingamajig

She used a curling iron or rods, but nonetheless still beautiful!

  • Well$$Well$$?

Looks like a rod set to me but it's cuyute. Before I loced my hair I was natural and for about 3 years. After I stopped getting relaxers I became very tender headed and it literally hurt to comb my hair. I loced my hair and never looked backed! #TeamNatural

  • YouWontSayItButIWill

There is nothing natural about that hair. You can tell the obvious difference when she turns to the side...that's why the turn was done so quickly. What she a lil liar.

  • dru and neil

I will admit that I don’t know how to do my hair. I’m natural and whenever my fro is out, which is huge, I don’t know how to do all the YouTube styles I see folks doing with ease. Then I end up yanking on it and damaging it. I had some serious breakage the last time I called myself trying to manage it for a few weeks. I mostly wear braids and I understand why so many black women cover their hair because it’s a pain in the ass.

  • YouWontSayItButIWill

    You're just being nice....

  • Keekz

Considering she's rocked weaves for at least 7 years, I would have presumed she would have more hair. I like the the rod set.
*BTW this statement,"Many women of color forego styling their own hair because, A. they don't know how to maintain their own hair, or B. they're lazy." or is rude an inaccurate. Some seek a professional, because of time constraints. Moreover, ALL woman can be lazy

  • Yoni7

Sandra, is that top pic a homage to YOUR Pump It Up Days? You still got that LHDC, Auntie?

  • Yoni7

Always. No harm in it. However, I can only see the initial posted pic. I can't see the IG pics that are posted. And it IS cute from the top pic that I can see.

  • Sha

We always have, but now more than ever.

  • Ihatemoney

The struggle is real... have you tried a braid out? I blow dry then braid down. In the morning I just take out the braids and maybe boby pin.

  • Guest

So the rumor is Wendy Williams husband don got the side chick pregnant and Wendy is self - medicating. But it's just a rumor tho.

  • cherrypie

I'm a little over a year post relaxer and it is the really best thing I could have done for my hair. My hair is thicker than it ever was with my relaxer and way more healthier. This past summer I didnt do much except do weekly deep conditioning and mostly flexirod sets and then put it into a high puff. Now that its cold, I straighten it about every 2-3 weeks and I just wrap it at night and I'm cool. I dont do weaves at all but I may try a wig if I can find one that looks real, if not, I prolly just get some braids in the summer or try some other protective style. It is ALOT of work.

  • imright

whoopty doo??? women who wear wigs & or weaves all the time SHOULD have a head of full healthy hair underneath !!! thats the point in wearing them LESS HEAT ,PRODUCT & STRESS on ur hair !!!

  • Jethro

Didn't think I could appreciate Angela's foine azz more.

  • VernadineTheQueen?

My hair is relaxed and I like it for now. It’s simply for convience. I hate that ppl always got negative stuff to say about relaxed hair, yes it may be bad for the hair in long run, but so is a lot of stuff we do to our bodies. To each it’s on! Later when I get a little bit older I will prob go natural.

  • MsPam

I see Angela is mourning her baby daddy.

  • stav

The curls aren't natural! Those are nothing more than spiral curls on flexirods!

  • oshh16

Looks like a flexi rod set to me.

  • What???

By then it'll be too late and your fibroids would've quadrupled in size. Good luck.

  • Capricornlady

i aint never going natural! I wear my hair short. I love it. My styles cant be achieved with natural hair. I hate when ppl try to tell me to go natural(husband included)?

  • Harley

Looks like she got paid to promote a product. At least she isn’t half naked looking for attention like usual. Little tink tink

  • Harley

Thank you women of ALL colors rock weaves and clip ins

  • country57

    I can believe that.

  • Harley

Me too! Shit like a helmet on your head! Hot and heavy ?

  • Harley

Yes she stay thirsty for attention with them deer in a headlight eyes

  • Jennifer Wade

I've been natural for 2 yrs. Only have put heat my hair like 6x this yr & this is longest my hair has been since I've been a kid. I wear lacefronts w/no combs, glue, or sew-in. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to grow locs

  • Renee26

The rod set part is cute... Idk about that other side

  • Renee26

It is definitely a rod set on the rt side

  • Renee26

Right... I tried the natural for 3 years then went back to the perm. It hurt too much to comb through it in it's natural state

  • VernadineTheQueen?

Im 42 and had a ultrasound and I don’t have but one tiny unproblematic fibroid. Been had relaxers most of my life. So....that is not for everybody!

  • CoTToNCaNDie SWeeTAsGolD

I haven't relaxed my hair in over 6 years..but it is HaaaaRD work, you hear me!!! I start crying just thinkin' about wash day

  • SpillyNillie

    Dehydrated, you say?

  • FukkFolks2018

    Do you Angie.

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

  • pecancandy

Exactly to each his own. No shame in what people choose to do.

  • Robert lee Bennett OG

How is it hard work my hair easily washes I never had a perm

  • dru and neil

Yeah I’ve tried a braid out. Comes out looking like sh—.

  • Keekz

  • Alicia.Ashe

Looks like her slow azz is promoting a hair care line. Meh.

  • Erin

say it louder for the people in the back please

  • Wreckognize Game

    Rasheeda's hair is everything.

  • Erin

period. I love my short, flyy, relaxed, every other week 5 hours in the salon, and every other negative think people have to say hair cut! I tell my boyfriend you drink soda... don't tell me nothing about my perm.

  • Ms.Devereaux

Yea that’s all she does every post is fashion nova this shake it baby that some hair extensions she promote and now this

  • Yup, I said it

I don't understand the appeal of these girls. They are so boring and uninteresting. Then they wanna act like they are soooo private but wanna be socialites at the same time. I'd rather see what Kimoras daughters keyoki and dem are up to. I'm sure it will be entertaining with a mother like Kimora.

  • Ms.Devereaux

Please she stopped posting those type of pics when it was announced her child’s father was killed I said I give her two weeks and she will Be back at it and low and behold she is back at posting those types of pics and posing with her back to the camera to see her butt ????? It’s sad cuz Angie don’t have to do this she is a cute young woman comes from a family that’s well off and that trickled down to her some of those ladies feel they have to be IG thots to get their coins but Angie doing this just because! Especially after yo gotti mentioned her name in a song

  • Ms.Devereaux

It is!! And when I saw her post I was like I hope she not trying to insinuate that she used those products to make her hair curl that way it’s clearly a flexi rod set.

  • Allergic2dumbstuff

I don't understand the obsession either. I like to run the comb/ my fingers through my hair without any obstacles and wigs feel heavy.? Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you too.

  • Y me?

Angela is beautiful but something about her face suggests she's a tad "off" perhaps even mildly retarded

  • Ms.Devereaux

? she couldn’t even keep up the facade

  • Keekz

Im not touching that one?. Cute, yes; Beautiful is a stretch IMO.

  • tintin

Lol. Youre so right. Never came to my mind but this statement makes sense

  • CoTToNCaNDie SWeeTAsGolD

    ha-ha...I'm sure you haven't Robert!

  • Dahl

Been natural my whole life, but it’s 2019. Who isn’t natural now, it’s no big deal...

  • Cara

Can't she close her mouth sometimes

  • T Willis

The extensions aren’t selling so she trying to get on that natural hair con. I see you angela lol

  • T Willis

It’s a very big deal. As plentiful as it may be to you, black women and natural hair ain’t as wide spread and common as you think. I left one company where almost every black woman was rocking natural hair, to another company (around the corner lol) and out of 20 black women *I* am the only black woman who is rocking their natural hair lol. I worked at the last company so long I didn’t even realize women still relaxed their hair until my latest position lol.

  • T Willis

I’m curious, what other “stuff” that we do to our bodies is on par with relaxing your hair? I mean, terms like “maintenance” and “preference” are both subjective. Everything that you love about relaxed hair has been taught to you, and reinforced by your upbringing and your culture. I mean to relax your hair is so psychological and doesn’t just affect “you” but the community you reside in, how younger generations will perceive your actions, the ignorance and h@tred that goes along with your natural follicles...? I just don’t get it lol. But like you said, to each their own... smdh

  • T Willis

I have long thick healthy hair and I don’t protect it from anything. Not protective styling, not wigs, and not weaves. I just wear and style my own healthy long hair.

  • Yup, I said it

That's what I'm saying. How somebody what your natural texture is? I have to get a relaxer religiously or my hair start busting rubber bands and it would take about 1.5 hours to blow dry my hair. My relaxed hair is so thick people always think it's natural but naw ,this is an every 4 weeks got to get a relaxer or I will start breaking combs.

  • VernadineTheQueen?

Child nobody cares about your long post/rant and I didn't read it!! !! I SAID WHAT I SAID!!

  • Yup, I said it

White women and Hispanic women perm their hair too. So I don't know why the study about fibroids excluded them. Also using hair dye is linked with breast cancer but,I haven't seen all these natural women with gray hair.

  • Harley

She looks like her dad with a wig

  • Ms..N

Lol I thought your either fully retarded or not? Asking for a friend. .

  • Keyshia Ray

    Alrighty then....thats all i got.

  • What???

Fibroids predominately effects black women that’s why the study was centered around them. Why do a lot of black women substantiate destructive behaviors and attitudes on the “white women do it too” principle??

  • Harley

It is sad but it’s obvious she craves attention. Something is lacking between those deer in the headlight eyes

  • Trace da Ace

cute....I plan on styling my hair with my wand for Xmas....between doing other folks hair and cooking....thats the plan...but we will see...prolly will end up in a high ponytail... IONO

  • Applebum

This chick is a liar so who knows if those curls are all hers. People are no longer calling her the ugly sister anymore or Miss piggy since getting that nose done many yearsssss ago.

Something about her I don’t like.

  • Applebum

Ladies, post pictures of your natural hair in the comments!

I don’t know why I find this funny. Maybe because I know there’s shade behind it. ?
My hair is long, I now enjoy taking care of it myself instead of going to a salon and have them do it.

  • Yashara Bat Orion

The new term is intellectual disability. Comes in mild, moderate, severe, or profound.

  • Mmm…Okay

Just wanted to say Merry Christmas Ya'll!!!!

  • SandraRose

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones! ????????

  • Parent

She gets on my last nerve. Go be a mother to your fatherless son and get off the gram..

  • Logan Roberts

    Good for you Angie ?

  • Carla B

Those are wand curls not her natural curl pattern.

  • Roxie Moxie

Um, are people really this dumb?? That is NOT natural curly hair. Lol It looks more like some sorta rod set. Cuz, on that OTHER side, it don't looka curly to me!! LOL.

Now, if you mean, NATURAL as in, no weave or additions and rocking your REAL hair, then yes, you'd be right. But these days I question it cuz a good hairstylist can have people wondering, "is that real or fake"??

  • Roxie Moxie

Right. I think black women are SO caught up in having curly hair (and why most go natural in the first place) because they think their hair is gonna look like what they see on other women, but go back to relaxers when they find out their pattern isn't 3C.

  • Mz_Opinionated

Wow! Wasn't expecting to see this ;-(

  • Capricornlady

chile!!!! i ditched my stylist who used to have my hair layyyyed cus she was slow and kept me in the salon ALL DAY! My stylist now dont play those foolish games! Im out in no less than 2 hours tops!!! Sometimes less! I was with my old stylist 10yrs!! But she would give er'body 9am appts and then take her FAVS first! Plus she was slow asf!

  • Mz_Opinionated

Yeah, some folks still love "creamy crack". And they are not about to let go off it and will let you know immediately. LOL! To each their own though.

  • Mz_Opinionated

She sure puts up with a lot of his "ish" with her horrible acting self.

  • Tell the truth

I feel you she always felt the pressure from her much prettier sister vanessa Simmons !

  • GrapeCrush

I love it! She looks adorbs!

  • R in NYC

But why is this post worthy? She did her own hair....and????

  • jwoo250

Wasn't her natural hair all the way down to her butt like a few months ago. She made post in the past showing her natural hair at waist length. If that were the case wouldn't her curls be longer? Or did she cut her hair off. B/c her natural hair last year was to her waist.

  • Notatall

That's right! Wear what u makes no sense how people try to make a hair style dictate everything about u.

  • KLo

    that look like a piece

  • Y me?

I think its like when someone is on the autism spectrum. There are varying degrees of cognitive issues. Some are full blown in their own world while others can maintain a mostly normal life

  • Y me?

  • dontgetblocked

Clearly, those aren't natural curls. It's a rod set. Good for her if she's not using relaxers anymore.

    Better than indian womens hair

  • Malcom Flex

BW it doesn't matter how you wear your hair fools will diss.
Funny not funny BW the only race of women policed by the males to wear natural hair but be real most black males don't like natural hair on BW unless she's mixed looking and the hair is loose.
Stop the FN hypocrisy and policing of BW's hair.

  • Yup, I said it

Because study", shug. If you are gonna have a study the you have to prove why it applies specifically to one group and doesn't have the same effect the other groups. Thats like saying eating donuts make black women obese. Donuts make everybody obese. So for the slow witted, my point is do perms only contribute to fibroid growth in black women or does it affect any woman that perms her hair? Stop attempting to spread fear and give people a complex.

  • sherri2016

Ive been wearing my hair natural for 20 years so does my 19 and 17 year old daughters i had to start after medication took my hair out it was a blessing in disguise

I ain't going to lie most of the time I'm lazy with my natural hair, but I make sure I feel condition and detangle.

  • Sunshine ///

Reminds me of the 90's. I like it.

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

You could not pay me to relax my hair. I've been relaxer free for about 15 years and have no regrets. I don't color either. I roll my hair and let it air dry and once in a blue moon, I'll flat iron it. In the summer time, I love wearing it in its natural form. No worries about the heat, making me sweat out my curls. It can rain and I'm still all good. Lol! I think black women have the greatest variation of hair textures, and they all should be accepted.

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

I think she means it's not relaxed hair.

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

No one should ever attack you because you choose to relax YOUR OWN hair. It's yours. I stop relaxing over 15 years ago but I wouldn't put the next woman down for relaxing her hair. I think people just love projected their insecurities onto others. If it looks nice, pay the person a compliment and if it doesnt keep it moving.

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

    A hair helmet!!

Itchy underneath and hot. I haven't worn a weave in over a decade and haven't worn a wig in about 7 or 8 years. It's nothing like feeling the wind blow through your hair and being able to scratch your own scalp. It use to feel like something was crawling on my scalp when I wore a wig.

  • Ant Hill

put that cape away Captain Save Em

  • Harley

I agree I wore a weave once and wigs for Halloween. I can’t see how people can do them daily. It’s crazy

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

I bought my first wig years ago because I had to be at the airport by 4am (business related) and refuse to get up at 3am and do my hair. I wore it for a few months on and off, because I paid $300.00 for it. But rocking my real hair always felt better.

  • butterscotch

The tighter (smaller) the curl shorter the length

  • Dowoop

  • Dowoop

And then you just throw it in one because you don't know what else to do with it.?

  • dru and neil

I have 4c hair and this has been a long suffering process. I been relaxer free for seven years, had to cut all the hair off already once with about an inch left due to severe breakage, started over, was making good progress past two years, had to cut again a few weeks ago because I tried to wear it out for about three weeks and in that short time, significant damage was done, and I had good length too. The only blessing in this really is that my hair has always grown fast. What’s ironic, I can’t imagine relaxing it ever again because I would miss the texture!

  • Tahj

    Looks good!

    She's an airhead.

Not a bad person, just vacant.

She's a trust fund girl that had a bad boy fetish. Happens all the time. Why make it deeper than that? Why make her out to be deeper than that. Why make her out to be more than she is. She should live right and low key off her family money, make a good marriage, and be a rich housewife.

  • the guest

I thought she was an airhead, dizzy, from being rich sheltered and not having to think. She was raised to marry well and be kept. But veered off course with a thug.

  • Kimberly King

This was simply a promo for a natural hair brand. I see there's some confusion between "natural hair" and "real hair." Although both can be used interchangeably, I refrain from doing so. The definition of "natural hair" (to me) is hair that hasn't been altered chemically in any way, shape, or form. It's possible that Angie isn't natural, but simply elected to wear her REAL hair out. I know a few women who get perms, but like to use products from brands that are geared/marketed towards women who are natural. I've been natural since 2010. 3C, low porosity, high density. Taking care of natural hair is no joke. But I take a lot of pride in it. I don't bash women who choose to get perms. I decided to stop because my scalp couldn't handle it.

  • Kimberly King

Agreed! Plenty of black women out here who are still addicted to the creamy crack. lol

  • Dowoop

My hair is 4a,b,c depending on the day. I stopped relaxing about 3 yrs ago with the intention of locing it but changed my mind. I have considered relaxing it again as it's so much work to maintain natural hair and everytime I try to style it I end up frustrated and up in a bun it goes after I have tortured it for hours.

  • Not Today

Shut ain't naturally curly...she forgot to curl the other side
