Kansas City police say a gunman chased two shooting victims to a hospital, and shot the male victim again before ending his own life.

Police say the two victims — a male and a female — were shot during an incident on Seventh Street and drove themselves to the University of Kansas Medical Center late Monday night.

The shooter pursued the two victims to the hospital. The male victim, later identified by police as Dominic Garcia, 28, got out of the car at the emergency room, but he bypassed the emergency room doors.

Garcia ran up Cambridge Street toward the hospital’s main doors, but those doors were locked as per the hospital’s late night policy.

The gunman caught up to Garcia at the hospital doors and shot him again before killing himself.

All three victims were rushed inside the emergency room. Garcia died from his injuries. The female victim who was in the car suffered minor injuries and is expected to survive.

Police were first called to the initial shooting scene at Seventh Avenue at 11:30 p.m., and officers later responded to the shooting at the hospital.

Police believe the shootings were a domestic dispute.

The hospital continued admitting patients while police investigated the shootings. The KUMED Police Department tweeted that all clinics are safe and open and operating normally.
