Jussie Smollett’s final official episode of Fox TV’s Empire sent viewers rushing for the exits. Smollett, who plays prodigal son Jamal Lyon, tied the knot in TV’s first-ever Black, homosexual wedding on Wednesday night.
Television ratings for Smollet’s final episode in the series bottomed out with a 1.1 rating for the key 18-49 demo and just 3.8 million total viewers, according to Variety.com.
The episode was Smollett’s last confirmed appearance in the season 5 of the Fox drama Empire‘s ratings took a nosedive after Smollett, 36, was arrested for lying to police about staging a racist and anti-homosexual hate crime against himself in Chicago in January.
He was charged with 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct in February. But in a strange turn of events, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx dropped all charges on March 26.
