Kodak Black was arrested prior to performing in concert at the Rolling Loud Music Festival in Miami Gardens, Florida on Sunday.
The troubled rapper was arrested by federal agents from the US Marshals Service. He faces a weapons charge as part of a joint investigation between agents from the US Marshals, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and Miami-Dade County PD North Side Gang Unit.
Kodak is being held without bond at the Miami Federal Detention Center. He is due in court on Monday, Yahoo News reports.
His lawyer slammed a Miami television station for publishing a photo of the smiling rapper in handcuffs at a police station.
Kodak’s lawyer Bradford Cohen said the photo was published to “embarrass” and humiliate his client.
The photo was tweeted by WSVN 7 News reporter Brian Entin on Saturday. He captioned the image: “Just obtained photo of Bill Kapri, AKA Rapper Kodak Black after he was arrested tonight.”

Kodak is shown wearing a blue cotton chenille Gucci Tennis sweatshirt with pink embroidery from the women’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection (retail $1,400) with matching sweatpants (retail $1,100) and a pair of women’s pink Gucci Flashtrek sneakers (retail $1,590).
“I think the actions of the [police] in taking a photo of him in the police station in handcuffs and selling it or giving it to WSVN is a disgusting display of unprofessionalism,” Cohen told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Cohen added that the photo is not an official mugshot of his client and should not have been leaked to the TV station.
Kodak was forced to cancel his concert at Rolling Loud on Saturday.
He was arrested last month while attempting to cross the border from Canada into New York state. Border patrol agents arrested the rapper and several others after drugs and handguns were discovered in a search of 2 vehicles in the rapper’s caravan. He was released on $20,000 cash bond following last month’s arrest.
The rapper, who was born Dieuson Octave, legally changed his name to Bill Kapri last year. He is also awaiting trial for the rape of a 14-year-old girl in South Carolina.
