Police in Montgomery, Alabama say four men who fatally shot a woman at a housing project will not be charged because they acted in self defense.

Police responding to a report of shots fired at a housing project at the 2400 block of Crossway Drive found a woman suffering from a single gunshot wound.

She was transported to Baptist Medical Center South where she was later pronounced dead, WSFA 12 reports.

According to Sgt. Jarrett Williams, four males were detained for questioning, but no arrests have been made.

An initial investigation has determined the woman was shot in self-defense because she drew her weapon first.
