Actress Tamera Mowry-Housley posted this Instagram image of herself in the pool with her adorable daughter, Ariah Housley, who just turned 4 yesterday. She captioned the image, “Summer days with my bestie…”
Earlier today, Sandrarose.com readers participated in a healthy discussion about good hair. Some of you asked “What is good hair?”
Good hair is silky soft hair that is easy to manage and looks great when you step out of the shower or a pool. It is wash and go hair that does not require styling with a brush or gels to lay the edges down when it becomes wet.
My definition of good hair is my own opinion. My opinion does not imply that hair other than wash and go hair is “bad hair”.
I’m being honest when I say I don’t have good hair. My hair is not wash and go hair. I can’t take a shower and and dry off and run to the corner store without using styling tools and a little heat to achieve an attractive style. That doesn’t mean my natural tight coils are bad.
Just to summarize, some LSLH, biracial, Hispanic and Latina women have good hair. That is not an indictment on Black hair. There are Black women with good hair like Tamera’s.
We all should be proud of our manes regardless of the grade of hair or the texture. It’s just hair.
