Queen & Slim is a modern spin on Bonnie & Clyde that takes on new meaning in the social media era. If you saw the 1985 movie The Legend of Billie Jean, you’ve seen this movie.
Directed by Melina Matsoukas, Queen & Slim also stars Chloë Sevigny, Bokeem Woodbine and Indya Moore.
Queen & Slim was written by Lena Waithe, so don’t expect much in the way of real story telling. Expect a lot of virtue signaling and social and political issues.
Universal Pictures released a second trailer on Wednesday because the first trailer failed to generate the buzz they were hoping for.
If you saw the first trailer, it’s not much different from this one. They added a few more protest scenes and civil unrest.

So a few things. I am sure this movie is being backed / funded by the Carter-Knowles camp, because I am pretty sure the Melina lady is a LONG TIME collaborator of B’s (I think she directs most of her videos). My point in saying this is nothing other than, must be nice to be so wealthy that you can invest in things and bankrolled stuff and not even have your name attached anywhere to it, but you still getting that return. I will watch the movie when it comes to Netflix. It seems like a decent movie, but more of a “Saturday night, I don’t want to go out, and aint nothing on tv and I am tired of seeing Ilyana call folks beloved as she wobbles around like a penguin, so let’s watch a Netflix movie”-type of movie. I love Bokeem Woodbine as an actor, always have. Unfortunately, I heard that he struggles with mental issues kinda like Lisa Nicole Carson. I don’t think he is schizo, but I do recall reading that he has had his struggles with his mental health. I am happy to see him out acting again.

Emotionally spent? Girl, last night I had the misfortune of getting caught up in this Lebanese movie called “Caupernam”. I will never forgive myself for doing that to myself. Any movie where children have to defend for themselves tugs at me, and this movie was like the ” Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete” on steroids. Great movie, but dang issa hard one. We are so blessed to live in the United States, even homeless people should be glad they are homeless here and not in other countries because I honestly have seen homeless people live better than the little boy in this movie.
