American pop star Lizzo landed her first number 1 hit with “Truth Hurts”. Lizzo, real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson, originally released the song in September 2017.
The song was featured in the Netflix film Someone Great, which premiered in April. The song was subsequently added to Lizzo’s critically acclaimed 2019 LP Cuz I Love You, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in May.
Lizzo performed her hit song at Jay-Z’s Made In America music festival in Philadelphia on Saturday. The festival was founded by Jay-Z in 2012.
Produced by Live Nation, the festival features several stages that continuously host live music from a wide range of genres.
Beyonce and Jay-Z watched Lizzo’s set from the side of the stage. Beyonce looked like she was in awe of the full figured singer.
The 31-year-old Taurus previously asked fans and music writers to stop comparing her to Beyonce.
“There will never be a next Beyoncé. And I’ve worked too hard to be Lizzo to just become somebody else,” Lizzo explained.

She tweeted: “The fact that Lizzo a couple months ago felt underestimated and now she have a #1!!!!BITCH! take that!take that ! Makes me emotional .. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
