DNA has confirmed Robert Hunter Biden fathered a baby girl with a 28-year-old woman in Arkansas last year. Hunter is the son of Joe Biden.
Lunden Roberts filed a paternity lawsuit against Hunter last year, after Hunter did not acknowledge paternity or provide child support for the baby girl.
“DNA testing has established with scientific certainty that the defendant is the father of the plaintiff’s child,” according to court papers obtained by PEOPLE.
Hunter repeatedly denied fathering a baby with Roberts. Her attorney said she did not want to cause a media spectacle or disrupt Joe Biden’s campaign for president.
“She just wants this baby to get financial support from the baby’s father,” said Clint Lancaster.
Roberts told the Democrat-Gazette she met Biden while she was a student and basketball player at George Washington University.
Although he was old enough to be her father, Roberts said they had a sexual relationship and she never doubted he was the father of her baby.
“My client has never doubted the paternity of this child, has never equivocated,” Clint tells PEOPLE. “She has never wavered. She has never doubted the results.”
The baby is former Vice President Joe Biden’s 5th grandchild. Clint says Roberts hopes the Bidens will choose to have a relationship with the child.
Clint said Roberts’s next step will be determining the amount of child support Hunter should pay to Roberts.
Hunter Biden reportedly earned over $20 million from a company in the Ukraine and nearly $1.5 billion from China.
The Bidens are accused of using his position with the Obama administration to benefit financially from foreign governments in a practice known as “influence peddling.”
