Whitney Houston and Notorious B.I.G. were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame posthumously. The late icons will join rock legends Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, T. Rex and The Doobie Brothers.
Whitney, who died in 2012 at age 48, is among four artists inducted after being added to the ballot for the first time. The Doobie Brothers, Biggie and T-Rex are the others.
Whitney remains one of the best-selling artists of all time, selling 200 million albums worldwide.
Biggie, real name Christopher Wallace, is best known for his rap hits “Juicy” and “Big Poppa.” His posthumous album Life After Death, featuring hits like “Mo Money Mo Problems” and “Hypnotize,” is one of the few rap albums to be certified Diamond by the RIAA.
B.I.G. became the first rap artist to earn multiple No. 1 singles after his death.
He was gunned down at the peak of his career in 1997 at age 24. His murder remains unsolved.
