The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta has issued a warning to parents to make arrangements tp “tele-school” their children as the coronavirus moves closer to a pandemic.
Senior CDC official Nancy Messonier said she called her children’s school and asked if there are plans for tele-schooling if the school closes to prevent the spread of the virus.
“We are asking the American public to prepare for the expectation that this might be bad,” Messonier said.
So far, 57 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the U.S. 40 of the cases came from the infected Diamond Princess cruise ship.
More than 80,000 people are infected and 2,700 people have died worldwide. But the numbers are believed to be much higher.
A Harvard professor predicts 40-70 percent of the world’s population – 3 billion to 6 billion people may become infected with the coronavirus.
