Boxer Gervonta Davis regrets his decision to correct his baby mama, Andretta Smothers, when she disobeyed his orders and talked back to him in public recently.

The Coral Gables Police Department arrested Davis on Tuesday, after a viral video showed the champion boxer snatching his baby mama by her neck and dragging her out of a Miami gym during a domestic dispute. The couple was in Miami to attend the Super Bowl.

Davis and Smothers share a minor daughter together.

After turning himself in to police on Tuesday, Davis took to Snapchat to explain the error of his ways. Davis acknowledged his privileged “high-class” status and how easy it would be to lose everything he worked so hard for.

“We some poor big-class n*ggas we made it we rich!… BE CAREFUL WITH THE DECISION YOU MAKE..ONE MISTAKE CAN MESS UP EVERYTHING..I’M LEARNING.”

Prior to his arrest, Davis addressed the incident during an Instagram story, saying he didn’t assault his baby mama – he simply corrected her when she talked back to him and showed out in public.

“I never once hit her, yeah, I was aggressive and told her come on.. that’s the mother of my child. I would never hurt her,” Davis said.

Many women criticized Davis’ method of discipline. But others say when a man pays all of a woman’s bills and expenses, it is her duty to respect him in public.

Davis is undefeated as a professional boxer.
