Heidi Klum is stunned at the backlash over her comments about Gabrielle Union‘s exit from America’s Got Talent.
“A lot of people got mad at me,” said Klum after she weighed in on the controversy surrounding Union, who was fired from the show’s panel of judges in November after just one season.
Union claimed staffers with Simon Cowell‘s Syco production company objected to her many wig changes and her clothing as “too black.”
But Klum did not share her experience when she was a judge for six seasons on the music competition series.
Speaking during the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, Klum said of her time on the series: “I can’t speak for (Gabrielle). I didn’t experience the same thing. To me, everyone treats you with the utmost respect. I’ve never seen anything that was weird or hurtful.”
Some sensitive social media users said Klum kept her job because of her skin color.
“A lot of people got mad at me. I was called, for example, ‘a white woman’,” Klum said. “I think it is important for everyone to speak their truth. I think that when there is a story, it should be told. I had a different story.”
“I can only speak to what I saw — it has nothing to do with what color I am,” she added. “I am a human so I just looked at what I saw.”
Klum served as a judge on the main show from 2013 to 2018, and returned for America’s Got Talent: The Champions, which is airing now, WENN.com reports.
The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution has come under attack since Barack Obama took office in 2009.
In 2013, Obama signed a bill giving the government and the news media unlimited freedom to publish propaganda against U.S. citizens.
At the same time, the news media and liberal groups waged war against conservative organizations and individuals who dared to speak the truth.
Most Americans, like Klum, are shocked to learn they are not free to express their opinions in a post-Obama world.
