Rapper T.I. is like any other man who wants safety and security for his family. The rapper probably had peace of mind when he moved into the exclusive, gated Eagles Landing subdivision in Henry County, Georgia.
But despite 24/7 guard presence and a gate, a robbing crew is breaking into homes in the upscale neighborhood. And now families are concerned about their safety among million-dollar homes.
Channel 2’s Matt Johnson reports that families of Indian descent are bing targeted.
“These guys are smart,” said one Indian man who asked Channel 2 not to show his face on camera. The resident said Indians are being targeted because they typically keep a lot of cash and gold jewelry in their homes.
The victim said thieves broke his back window to gain access to his upscale home while he was gone out Saturday night.
It’s the third home burglary in the past two weeks inside Eagles Landing, where comedian Chris Tucker also owns a home.
The victim said he isn’t sure the thieves are coming in from the outside.
“How they are getting in the neighborhood, that is a little bit mystery,” said the man.
At another house, a mother and daughter returned from karate class to find a back window smashed and the house ransacked. $9,000 in cash and an expensive necklace were stolen.
Another family told Johnson that thieves stole at least $30,000 in jewelry from their home while they were gone.
The homeowner’s association held a meeting with residents on Thursday to discuss the home break-ins.
Henry County police are investigating the cases.
