Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who shot and killed two Black Lives Matter protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin was released on bond Friday.

Rittenhouse, who was charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, posted $2 million bond — mostly donations raised through crowdfunding websites.

He posted bond through his attorney at about 2 pm, Kenosha county sheriff’s Sgt David Wright told reporters.

The teenager is accused of fatally shooting Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounding Gaige Grosskreutz during violent Jacob Blake protests on August 25.

Rittenhouse, of Antioch, Illinois, told police he was attacked by the protesters. At least one protester was armed with a gun.

Conservatives praised Rittenhouse as a hero who was exercising his right to bear arms during the unrest in Kenosha.

His initial bail amount was $1 million, but an Illinois judge increased the amount to $2 million after Rittenouse’s supporters quickly raised the $1 million to pay his bail.
