Rapper Jeezy and TV personality Jeannie Mai will soon be husband and wife. The power couple picked up their marriage license one year after they announced their engagement, according to TMZ.
According to the Fulton County clerk’s office in Atlanta, Jeezy and Jeannie Mai applied for their marriage license on Monday, March 29. The couple now has a 6-month window before they have to file again for another license.
This will be Jeannie’s second marriage.
The 42-year-old Capricorn was married to her high school sweetheart Freddy Harteis from 2007 until 2017. The couple divorced after she discussed their childless marriage on the Fox TV-owned talk show “The Real.”
Jeanie previously discussed having two wedding ceremonies to honor both of their cultures.
Jeezy explained why he proposed to Jeannie in an interview on the Fat Joe Show.
“When you get the one, you can’t even play with it,” he said. “When you locked in mentally, that’s the battle right there. You want to build, you want to grow.”
The 43-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper is a little gun shy about marriage. He was engaged previously to an African woman named Mahi, whose daughter he treated as his own. He also has two grown sons, Jadarius and Shyheim.
The couple started dating in 2018 and announced their engagement following a whirlwind courtship.
For many couples who wait 3 or 4 years to tie the knot, the Dopamine has already faded and the bare bones of their relationship are exposed.
What happens next depends on how equally yoked they are.
