Candace Rice wasn’t expecting a surprise Christmas gift when she went into preterm labor and delivered her son at just 24 weeks.
The “Floribama Shore” star announced her pregnancy on Instagram after going into preterm labor. She posted a maternity photo shoot on Instagram from her hospital bed.
“I didn’t want to post these yet,” she wrote, “but unfortunately yesterday I went into pre term labor at 24 weeks.”
“Dr. Tosha Muse in addition to all the wonderful doctors & nurses have been doing all they can to keep baby Maxwell Michael Hardy inside the womb as long as possible. It’s wayyyy too early for him to enter.”
Maxwell came into the world at 2:30 a.m. on Christmas Day. Candace posted a photo of a nurse gently squeezing air into Maxwell’s fragile lungs with an Ambu bag.
Candace captioned the image:
“Maxwell Michael Hardy arrived at 2:30am. We have a Christmas baby and another Capricorn! He’s so strong! Currently in Nicu and hopefully I can take him home in a few months. I’m asking for prayers now, more than ever for my little man. He’s so small, but so aware.”
The baby’s father is Rice’s boyfriend, DJ Skar, whose real name is Denzel Hardy.
The proud parents expect to take their baby home in a few months.
“Please keep the development of baby Maxwell in your family prayers today as you gather with family & friends. #ChristmasBabyBaby,” Candace wrote.
