A Florida teenager was arrested after bringing a loaded handgun to school on “National Shoot Up Your School Day” on Friday.

Miramar, Florida police confirmed a teenager was taken into custody for having a loaded handgun at Miramar High School on Friday, according to CBS Miami Affiliate CBS 4.

Additionally, South Plantation High School is on lockdown while the Plantation police investigate an incident there.

Law enforcement agencies across the country are on high alert after a TikTok challenge, which originated on an anonymous account, warned students not to attend school on Friday, Dec. 17.

“Beware don’t go to school tomorrow threats are being made to all schools nationwide bomb and shooting threats stay safe — if you need to skip school cause your parents are being dumb and making you go then do so [sic].”

Another TikTok user wrote: “prayers for everyone who has school [tomorrow] be aware of the “National shoot up your school day.”

Police were made aware of the threats by concerned TikTok users on Thursday night.

“Every threat to a school community is taken extremely seriously and we work closely with the NYPD to investigate threats made to any school community,” New York City Schools Chancellor Meisha Porter wrote in an email to parents Friday morning.

Police in Nassau County checked classrooms in the district’s 450 buildings but no schools were closed.

Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder told ABC 7: “‘All schools in the United States will be targeted on December 17.’Stay safe. Stay home.’ That’s gone viral. We are going to be out there … visiting every one of our schools.”
