Nearly 100% of NFL players are fully vaccinated, but Covid-19 cases are surging across the league.
In a memo on Thursday, the NFL announced drastic changes in its COVID protocol to address the surge in cases.
The changes include eliminating in-person meals and requiring more face masks among players on and off the field.
In the memo, the league announced the drastic changes to “address the increase in cases and the advent of the Omicron variant.”
According to TMZ, the league is also ordering teams to conduct remote or outdoor meetings, as well as ban outside visitors on road trips.
Players and coaches on nearly every team have tested positive for COVID despite being fully vaccinated.
Players like Jalen Ramsey, Odell Beckham Jr. and Baker Mayfield have all been sidelined this week due to positive Covid-19 tests, TMZ reports.
In the memo, officials addressed the need for more mRNA boosters: “We will continue to strongly encourage booster shots as the most effective protection.”
21 of Washington’s players are positive for covid and 20 Browns players, including their top two quarterbacks, are all positive for covid too. All of these players were “vaccinated.”
