Cheryl Burke has filed to end her marriage to actor Matthew Lawrence after nearly 3 years of marriage.
The Dancing With the Stars veteran dancer filed divorce paperwork in Los Angeles County Courts on February 18, 2022, The Blast reported.
The Hollywood couple tied the knot on May 23, 2019, after dating since 2017. They were first introduced by Matthew’s brother, Joey Lawrence (Gimme a Break!), when he was a guest on DWTS in 2006.
The couple dated for a few years following their meeting, but got back together in 2017 and eventually tied the knot.
Their union produced no children. Cheryl, 37, discussed not having children with her famous husband back in 2017, saying:
“We really want to do it right. We want to do the steps of being engaged, moving in together, getting married and having kids… I’m not getting any younger. We want kids and all of that, so we’ll see what happens.”
According to The Blast, the professional dancer is asking the court to deny spousal support to either party. The documents reveal the couple were independently wealthy when they signed a prenuptial agreement on May 20, 2019.
“When we first dated, we were both young and immature, and I was so new to this world,” Burke told PEOPLE in 2017. “Now we are both adults and feel balanced.”
Matthew, 42, starred with his brothers Andy, 34, and Joey, 45, on the series “Brotherly Love” and he portrayed the character Jack Hunter on ABC’s “Boy Meets World.”
