NeNe Leakes opened up about her son Brent Leakes‘s condition after he suffered heart failure and a stroke earlier this month.
Brentt, who is only 23, was hospitalized for several days and is currently in rehab.
NeNe responded to fans who shared their get well wishes for her son.
“Everybody’s asking and concerned about Brentt and we thank you guys so much,” she said in a video.
“Two weeks ago today Brentt had congestive heart failure and a stroke. He’s only 23, so he’s really young for something like that to happen to him.”
NeNe said Brentt doesn’t drink or do drugs. She added that he was tested for drugs, HIV, and COVID, but all the tests came back negative.
“Obviously, if we knew the cause they could treat the cause. It’s very scary,” she said.
The former reality TV star said Brentt is struggling to speak – due to lack of oxygen to the part of the brain that controls speech.
“Obviously, a stroke is a very serious thing and so he’s struggling with speaking and it’s… I don’t know.”
She asked fans to “keep us in your prayers,” and she updated fans about The Linnethia Lounge in Duluth, Ga, which Brentt managed along with her.
“The lounge is still open,” she said. “You know, Brentt ran the lounge. That was his pride and joy. He loved it. It is still open. The managers are still running it with the regular hours.”
However, NeNe said she is considering selling the lounge. “This is just a lot right now on me… It’s very possible that we will sell the lounge.”
She asked fans to refer potential buyers to her.
