Actor Will Smith dropped a teaser for yet another slave movie. This one is titled Emancipation.
Smith plays an emancipated slave who was depicted in a historic photo titled “The Scourged Back.”
Smith uploaded the movie teaser to his Youtube channel on Monday. He wrote in the summary:
“This was the hardest movie I’ve ever made. Blood, Sweat & Tears… LITERALLY! Shoutout to @Apple who doubled (and tripled) down on their commitment to deliver this epic story to the world.”
One YouTube viewer wrote:
“Another slave movie really will smith. We’re trying to forgot what happened to us back then.. and you wana make a movie of it Again [sic].”
A second person wrote:
“There so many other experiences to tell of Africans in America besides another slave narrative.”
But others were supportive of the disgraced actor’s efforts.
Will Smith hopes Emancipation will win him another Oscar award. Though he’s banned from attending the Oscars for 10 years after he slapped comedian Chris Rock in March.
