Elon Musk reversed Donald Trump’s Twitter ban on Saturday after viewing the results of an online poll.

More than 15 million people responded to the poll that said: “Reinstate former President Trump.” 51.8% of respondents ticked “yes,” while 48.2% ticked “no.”

“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated,” Musk tweeted Saturday evening. He added “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” a Latin phrase meaning “the voice of the people, the voice of God.”

Trump’s Twitter account reappeared on Saturday night complete with 59,000 of his old tweets. His account gained over 1.4 million followers in 20 minutes.

Trump’s last tweet, on Jan. 8, 2021, read: “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

Trump has previously stated he had no interest in returning to Twitter, since he has his own social media app, Truth Social.

During a video speech on Saturday, Trump said he was aware of Elon’s poll and that he saw “a lot of problems at Twitter.”

“I hear we’re getting a big vote to also go back on Twitter. I don’t see it because I don’t see any reason for it,” Trump said, according to Bloomberg. “It may make it, it may not make it,” he said, referring to hundreds of Twitter staff quitting or threatening to quit last week.
