Tory Lanez responded to allegations that he brought his young son, Kai’Lon, to court for sympathy on Tuesday.
Tory, 30, is charged with shooting at rapper Megan Thee Stallion‘s feet during a dispute in an SUV after attending a pool party at Kylie Jenner‘s house in July 2020.
The rapper held his son’s hand as he arrived to court on the second day of his criminal trial in Los Angeles.
He paused outside the courthouse to adjust the 5-year-old’s tie in front of cameras.
The rapper’s fans were surprised to learn he had a child. They suggested that Kai’Lon wasn’t his, and they complained that he brought the innocent child to a criminal trial. One blogger even accused him of hiring Kai’Lon from Central Casting to pull at the jurors’ heartstrings.
When asked about the boy, Tory explained Kai’lon was his support system. There is no word about the boy’s mother.
TMZ reports Kai’lon was “well-behaved” during the criminal proceeding.
Tory’s trial kicked off Monday. Prosecutors said gun powder residue was found on Tory’s hand and on his ex-girlfriend Kelsey Harris‘s hand.
However, prosecutors say Tory pulled the trigger, while Tory’s attorneys also say Kelsey and Megan may have been fighting over Tory that night.
Megan, 27, claims she was shot twice by Tory, but police say she was cut by flying glass.
The defense claims Megan had a history of sleeping with the same men as her former bestie Kelsey.
Kelsey allegedly accused Megan of being an industry mattress, which they say caused a huge argument between the two women.

The prosecution claims Tory fired 5 shots, striking Megan in both feet — because he was offended that she insulted his rap music.
Meanwhile, court records show Tory was hit with a third charge of felony negligent discharge of a firearm.
Tory faces a minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
