Netflix canceled Neil Patrick Harris‘ gay romantic comedy “Uncoupled” after just one season due to low ratings.

Harris, 49, played Michael Lawson, a newly single gay real estate agent navigating the dating scene in Manhattan for the first time in 17 years.

Michael experienced a whirlwind of emotions when he was dumped by his longtime partner Colin (Tuc Watkins).

As Michael adjusts to being single in his late 40s, he discovers that the gay dating scene in Manhattan has changed a lot.

Uncoupled also starred Tisha Campbell (“Martin”) as Michael’s business partner, Suzanne.

Michael’s friends urged him to hit the ground running, and he reluctantly went on multiple dates with men.

The final episode ends with Michael leaving a party and arriving home only to find Colin waiting for him. Colin tells Michael he may have made a mistake.

Apparently, Netflix also made a mistake.

Gay romantic comedies have not done well on TV or on the big screen.

Thankfully, Netflix didn’t explore Tisha Campbell and actress Marcia Gay Harden‘s “deepening” relationship in the series.

Both actresses are heterosexual in real life.
