Shannon Sharpe and Ja Morant‘s dad hugged it out after a heated argument during the Los Angeles Lakers vs Memphis Grizzlies NBA game on Friday night.

The confrontation started when Grizzlies player Dillon Brooks said something disrespectful to Shannon, who told him to say it to his face like a man.

Then Ja and half of the Grizzlies team crossed the court, as Shannon said they could all get that smoke.

Grizzlies coaches ordered the players to go back to their bench, but Ja, his teammates and Shannon continued yapping at each other on the court. Then Tee Morant jumped out of his seat to see what was going on.

The situation required the NBA referees, coaching staff and arena security to separate the men. Shannon was forced to remain in the tunnel until the third quarter when he calmed down and returned to his court side seat.

Following the game, the 54-year-old former NFL star told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin what sparked the incident:

“They didn’t want this smoke, Dave… They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said, ‘F***’ me. I said, ‘F*** you’ back. He started to come at me and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn’t want no problems. But I wanted anything they had. Don’t let these fools fool you now.”
