The Lake Worth Police Department released cellphone footage that shows a Good Samaritan chasing down a drunk driver who caused a fatal collision moments earlier.

In the footage uploaded to Twitter on Thursday, Dylan Molina, 26, is seen attempting to flee the scene of the crash after his rented Jeep collided with a car, killing off-duty cop Alex Cervantes and injuring his family.

Justin Gonzalez was driving behind Cervantes’ car when he witnessed the deadly head-on collision in Lake Worth, Texas on Nov. 27, 2021.

Cervantes was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife and two sons were seriously injured in the crash.

In an interview with FOX 4 Dallas, Gonzalez said adrenaline kicked in and he had a feeling the coward was going to run.

“Something in me was telling me he’s going to run. Something’s not right in the situation. I could feel something was not right in the situation,” he said.

Gonzalez said he turned around and that’s when Molina tried to make a break for it.

“And I was like what is this man doing? And I just turned around and started going after him,” Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez caught up to Molina and pinned him to the ground. “You stay right there, motherf***er! You see what you did?!” said Gonzalez. “You f***ing killed somebody, you motherf***er!”

“I’d like to apologize for my language I was using,” Gonzalez told FOX 4 Dallas, after the video went viral on Feb. 23.

“At that time, I just blacked out. I had the father instincts, the dad instincts. Because two seconds later, it would’ve been my car,” Gonzalez said.

Prior to the crash, Molina was served 8 double vodka Red Bull cocktails and 16 single shots, according to KDFW.

The bartender Cala Richardson was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for plying Molina with more alcohol when she should’ve known he was intoxicated.

Molina was recently found guilty of vehicular homicide and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

“It’s not gonna bring Alex back, but at least he’s locked behind bars and not able to hurt another family like he did ours,” said Cervantes’ widow Priscilla Cervantes.
