A former Georgia deputy was sentenced to life in prison for shooting dead his married girlfriend who insulted his penis size.
Former Richmond County Sheriff’s deputy Jason Cunningham, 48, pled guilty to malice murder in the shooting death of 37-year-old Nicole Harrington.
Cunningham shot Harrington in the back of the head in a parking garage elevator in Augusta in June 2020, WFXG reported.
Cunningham told police he asked Harrington to meet him to break up with her.
Augusta District Attorney Jared Williams said Cunningham became enraged after Harrington insulted “the size of his manhood”.
Cunningham told investigators they started to argue, and he shot her in the head as she entered an elevator.
After the shooting, Cunningham was involved in an 8-hour stand-off with Columbia County deputies at a boat ramp at Clarks Hill Lake.
“This was an extramarital affair in which the defendant was living a double life,” District Attorney Williams said.
Harrington is survived by three children. Cunningham was terminated by the Sheriff’s office after he tested positive for drugs following an accident while on-duty.
