An Atlanta songwriter who worked with artists such as rapper Bow Wow — was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing his girlfriend in Iowa.
Justin Wright, 34, also known as J. Wright, was found guilty in April of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 20-year-old Wilanna Bibbs in 2021.
He was given the maximum sentence on Wednesday, the Quad-City Times reported.
Wright is accused of killing Bibbs, an aspiring singer from Durham, North Carolina, on May 9, 2021, at a home in Davenport, Iowa. Police say the two were in Iowa visiting Wright’s relatives.
At Wright’s sentencing hearing, Bibbs’ father said Wright killed his daughter over $70. They had only dated for a few months.
When his mother asked if she could say goodbye to her son, a deputy shook his head no and escorted Wright out of the courtroom, according to Fox News.
Wright founded Camp Entertainment Worldwide in 2011. He crafted multi-platinum hits for artists including Bow Wow, Timbaland, Kash Doll and DJ Khalid.
