Rapper Gunna is trending on Twitter after dropping his first album since being released from jail in December. The album, titled A Gift and a Curse addresses the snitching accusations that derailed his career.
Young Thug’s fans are convinced Gunna snitched in exchange for his freedom. The Atlanta rapper was arrested alongside Young Thug and 26 other gang Young Slime Life (YSL) associates in May 2022.
Gunna pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act and was released from the Fulton County Jail in December.
Multiple co-defendants also accepted plea deals, leaving Young Thug and 8 others to face the music alone.
Days later, someone in the courtroom released a video showing Gunna pleading guilty to conspiracy and admitting he was a member of Young Thug’s YSL street gang.
After the video went viral, Gunna’s lawyer Steve Sadow adamantly insisted his client didn’t snitch.
But the fact that Gunna admitted to the gang’s existence in open court may be enough to hurt Young Thug, who has claimed YSL is not a gang.
Gunna, 30, addressed the snitching allegations on his new album. On one track, titled “Bread & Butter,” he raps:
-
F*ck I paid the lawyers all those [millions] for?
Just so I won’t have to say a word to dodge a railroad
N*ggas find it hard to understand, though
Dawg ain’t put me down, I been locked down, I don’t know which way to go
Never gave no statement or agree to take no stand on ’em
On whatever you n*ggas on and trust me, I’ma stand on it
Lawyers and the DA did some sneaky sh*t, I fell for it
