“Good Times” actor John Amos has accused his daughter Shannon Amos of elder abuse. Last week, Shannon launched a GoFundMe claiming her father was a victim of elder abuse in a hospital ICU.

However, John Amos, 83, accused Shannon of abusing him and “taking advantage” of him.

In a video shared on Instagram by his son K.C., John Amos called the sheriff’s office in Colorado to stop an investigation into his welfare. Amos told police his daughter is the one abusing him.

K.C. captioned the video:

“There are many different aspects to this situation. It’s interesting how many people have made a conclusion while we are still discovering new elements every single day.”

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, the “Roots” actor said, “To all of my fans, I want to share this video with you to show you that I am not in the distressed condition as described in the GoFundMe page. As a matter of fact, I am doing well. I am not in ICU, nor was I ever fighting for my life.”

In a statement this week, John said, “To all of my fans, I want you to know that I am doing well. First, I want the GoFundMe campaign about me to stop immediately and the funds subsequently returned to those who made donations. My son and I will reveal more information at the appropriate time.”

The beloved actor is best known for his role in the CBS television situation comedy “Good Times,” which ran from February 8, 1974, to August 1, 1979.

John was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and an NAACP Image Award.

In his final role, John starred in the 2021 film Because of Charley in which he played the patriarch of an estranged step-family riding out a hurricane together in Florida.
