Update: Two 911 calls reveal the moments after gunmen shot and killed a popular Instagram model in the backseat of an Uber early Tuesday.
Teisha Brewley was gunned down in an Uber Black (VIP car) around 4:30 a.m. in Atlanta’s affluent Buckhead neighborhood.
Drone news video showed a large number of shell casings in the street around the bullet-riddled Escalade.
Brewley, an exotic dancer from Guyana, was shot multiple times when the Cadillac Escalade she was riding in stopped at a red light. The Uber driver was unharmed.
Police say they responded to a “person shot” call at the intersection of Lindbergh Drive and Adina Drive in Buckhead.
In the first 911 call, a man is heard repeatedly saying “Somebody shot in my car.” The Uber driver’s thick accent made it difficult for the 911 dispatcher to understand him.
“Sir, are you saying someone is inside your car shot or just your car is shot?” the dispatcher asked him. “No, somebody in my car is shot,” he confirmed.
The driver said his customer was “still breathing.”
Precious time was wasted by the sleepy Grady EMS operator who didn’t know how to spell “Lindbergh” or “Adina Drive.”
According to Atlanta News First, a second call was placed to 911’s non-emergency line by ADT security reporting a “mobile panic alert” on behalf of the man who ordered the Uber Black for Brewley.
“He stated he ordered an Uber for a friend who hasn’t arrived to his location yet and the driver’s location is showing to be in one spot for a long period of time,” the ADT caller said. “He said she was supposed to have arrived at his location by 4:31 a.m. and she had not.”
Investigators are working to determine whether this shooting and another shooting nearby at Buford Highway and Lenox Road are connected.
Brewley was a social media influencer with 45,000 followers on Instagram.
The Uber driver told police he picked up Brewley from Allure strip club on Cheshire Bridge Road. He noticed 2 cars following them from the strip club moments before the shooting. He said he didn’t know Brewley and he had no idea why she was targeted.
Brewley was also known as “Tisha Brodie” and “Tavi Badiee” on social media. She had just celebrated her 31st birthday last week. She lived with her brother about a block away from the crime scene.
Atlanta police say there were multiple shooters in two vehicles. One of the vehicles was described by witnesses as a light-colored sedan.
“This appears to be a targeted incident and as you can see from the number of shell casings, there were multiple shooters but again we don’t have a whole lot to give out right now,” APD’s Charles Hampton said.
Brewley was an aspiring rapper who released a NSFW music video for her song “Can’t Style Me.”
According to sources, she had ongoing online beef with another Guyanese influencer named “Lola.”
Atlanta Police urged anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
