A suspect fleeing Fort Wayne police on Friday morning hit his own mother with his car and sent her flying through the air. The shocking incident was caught on video.

According to CBS local affiliate WANE, narcotics officers tried to pull over a car, but the suspect fled and a police pursuit ensued.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Jajuan Burley, led police on a 20-minute, high-speed chase before stopping his car in front of a house in the 5100 block of Winter Street.

Burley’s mother, Juanita Gray, ran out of the home and an “item exchange” occurred with her son, according to the police report.

As police closed in on the suspect, he accelerated and his car slammed into Gray as she tried to go back inside the house. The impact sent her flying across the front yard.

An officer was grazed by the fleeing vehicle. Police opened fire and Burley was shot, according to the release.

The mother, officer, and suspect were all transported to a hospital in non-life-threatening condition. The mother and son were both arrested at the hospital, according to police.

Burley is charged with battery with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, disarming, resisting in a vehicle, and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon — all felonies. Narcotics charges are also pending, WANE reported.

Gray was charged with felony obstruction of justice.
