Danny Masterson is on suicide watch after a judge sentenced him to 30 years to life in prison for raping 2 women.
He is pictured arriving at a courthouse in Los Angeles with his actress wife Bijou Phillips on May 31, 2023.
Masterson, 47, was sentenced Thursday to 30 years to life in prison after being convicted on 2 counts of rape.
He is in jail while awaiting a transfer to a California state prison where he will serve out his sentence.
The disgraced actor, who played Steven Hyde in “That ’70s Show,” is being kept under constant surveillance for signs of depression, TMZ reports.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Masterson is under 24-hour video surveillance, and deputies walk by his cell every 30 minutes to check on him. This is the same procedure that was in place when notorious financier Jeffrey Epstein took his own life on Aug. 10, 2019 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York.
Shawn Holley, Masterson’s lawyer, tells TMZ that her client is mentally strong and feels confident his conviction will be overturned on appeal.
He was held in L.A. County Men’s Central Jail without bond for months as he awaited sentencing. He is staying in the same area as other high-profile inmates, including former rapper Tory Lanez, who is also awaiting transfer to a state prison.
