Porch pirates aren’t waiting for FedEx driver’s to leave your package on your doorstep anymore. They’re following FedEx driver’s and snatching packages right out of their hands.
A delivery driver was ambushed when she tried to deliver a package to a residence in Chesterfield, Virginia, on Aug. 30.
Ring camera footage shows a man sneaking behind her as she walked up to the front porch of the home. According to the FedEx driver, the man said the package was his before he snatched it out of her hand, and fled to a white BMW.
The package contained a $1,000 iPad that was meant for Jessica Saenz’s husband. Saenz watched the crime as it unfolded on her Ring camera.
“I looked at the camera, and the lady, she couldn’t even speak, and she was shaking,” Saenz said in an interview with “Good Morning America.”
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Like this guy, right in front of my door, grabbing the package and just running away.”
“It was unbelievable because it was right outside of my house, and I could have, I could have — this guy could have broken into my house and taken it from me,” Saenz said in another interview with WBBT.
Saenz said she believes the thief somehow knew the iPad was scheduled to be delivered that day.
Michigan attorney Steve Lehto says the impatient thief will face more serious charges if he’s caught.
“Most people think, ‘Well, I take something that doesn’t belong to me, that’s theft,'” Lehto said in a YouTube video. “When you grab it from someone’s possession, it is robbery.”
